I know what some of you are thinking.
Why would you do that?
Isn't that expensive?
I would love to do that, but I just can't give up on junk food!
Let me start from the beginning. I wanted to start off caffeine-free. I have just recently been diagnosed with an essential tremor that has effected my life greatly. My late mom had a tremor that I assume was passed on to me. As a patient, you don't want to see some nurse coming at you with a needle shaking. My main issue has been that my heads shakes. It is not only embarrassing, but also uncomfortable, since it strains my neck like a constant workout. I started to notice that caffeine and anxiety triggered the tremor, so I knew I had to do something. The day I knew I had to stop was when I had a co-worker say to me, "What is wrong with you? Do you have Parkinson's or something? Do you have a family history?" It was very hurtful and the first time that anyone outside of my husband had noticed/spoken of it.
So I stopped.
Migraines started, extreme tiredness, and a lot of other awful symptoms started.
Then, it started to go away…
I knew that I could do more, and I felt ready. I wanted to do better for my daughter and to show her a better example of proper nutrition. So, my husband and I started contemplating going organic. The "nail on the coffin" so to speak was when we watched a documentary on Netflix, "Hungry for Change". It really just made me realize how out of control I allowed my life to be, and I was completely clueless. The movie spoke of big business and how these large food corporations are designed to make a profit. They will do anything to their food to make you want it and keeping wanting to buy it, by adding food additives to make it taste better and preservatives to make the food have a longer shelf-life.
So we have been shopping only at Whole Foods and have eaten out once in the past two weeks (which was at a local organic restaurant).
And I have lost 5 pounds already!!!!
This is definitely all the incentive I need to keep going with it. I already feel so much better and my tremors have reduced by at least 80%. It is expensive-do not get me wrong, but I have a lot to live for, and I feel like for once I am in control of what I eat.
I will keep y'all up to date with my progress!
Do you eat organic?
Leave me a comment on your thoughts! :)
